Meet our Orthopaedic Spine Surgeons:
Ravi K. Ponnappan, MD
Dr. Ponnappan is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in advanced techniques and complex spinal surgery of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He has devoted his career to helping those suffering from spinal conditions and actively participates in research, teaching, and innovation. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Ponnappan has been rated one of the top physicians in patient satisfaction and honored as one of southern New Jersey’s Top Doctors in orthopaedic spine surgery.
Dr. Ponnappan is a proud member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, and Cervical Spine Research Society. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and has received honors for his research on intervertebral disc disease as well as cervical spine compressive pathology.
Jonathan D. Bussey, D.O.
A board-certified neurological surgeon, Dr. Jonathan Bussey attended medical school at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning high honors on both the Provost and Dean’s List. Upon completion of dual neurological surgery residencies at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Dr. Bussey completed his neurosurgical trauma fellowship training at Cooper University Hospital, Camden, New Jersey. With additional complex spine surgery training including trauma experience, Dr. Bussey has also earned a Masters of Public Health from University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
He has been an invited presenter at the American Association of Neurologic Surgeons and the American Association of Osteopathic Surgeons annual assemblies, presenting other neurosurgeons and surgeons with state of the art treatments and strategies since 2005.
Dr. Bussey is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the Sigma Sigma Phi Honorary Education Society.
